THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER

Paddington 2 starring the lovely Sally Hawkins and Hugh 'ding dong!' Grant is a wonderful film, in too many ways to mention really and if you haven't seen it yet get thee to the cinema pronto.  No kids to take? and your point is??  If you like stylish, funny, heart warming films then this is for you.  I'm not going to divulge anything about the story line but I do want to talk a little bit about the look.  Visual spoilers ahead so look away now and return poste haste after you've popped your corn.

Gary Williamson's Production Design.  Cor!  The set manages to be both sweetly charming and a big riot of colour and pattern.  From the gorgeous pastel hues that line Windsor Gardens (Chalcot Cresent in Primrose Hill) to what lies behind the door of the Brown's residence at No. 32.  Mr and Mrs Brown's bedroom is decorated beautifully in a Chinoiserie style wallpaper (possibly hand painted?!)

It looks very similar to this stunning De Gournay wallpaper which I'm sure costs a pretty penny or two - there are no prices on the website, instead you are invited to 'make an enquiry'.  Kate Moss recently collaborated with the brand to create a new design 'Anemones in Light' and as one would expect it is stunning.  Way out of my price league but if we only ever looked at things that we could actually afford that would be slightly dull, no?  Do make sure you've got a spittoon handy when looking as you'll be drooling constantly.

You don't need a whopping great budget to get a great look that packs a punch though.  Graham and Brown Chinoiserie Canary soft matte wallpaper comes in at £50 a roll and is pretty striking.

The Giselle range, part of the Imperial Garden Collection, from Thibaut Wallpaper is a more pricey option at £138 from Designer Wallpapers but if you only need enough for a feature wall then it might well be within your budget.

If you're after something that is along the same lines but less busy you could try The Grove Garden collection from Osbourne & Little available at Select Wallpaper for £73 a roll.

The American brand Tempaper make beautiful wallpaper beautiful that is, according to Vogue Magazine, affordable (it's all relative dahhhling).  The trick up it's sleeve is that it is removable so great if you are in rented, and let's face it usually drab, accomodation or if, like me, you're fickle.  With this you can redecorate to your hearts content and whip it all down when you move and/or get bored.  They don't have anything quite as vibrant as the red De Gournay Chinoiserie (take a look at their other designs for power colours) but they do have a good selection of this style in more subtle hues and they ship internationally.

I also have some things to say about Mrs Brown's clothes but I'll save that for another day.
